We all know that routine is essential in life.
From having a work schedule to scheduling activities.
We know where we need to be and when.
Even our children and grandchildren have schedules.

Having routine tells our minds and bodies when it is time to wind down.
Your routine may include doing a facial, showing or bathing, or reading.

I try to do one more round of giving my pets attention.
Another thing I do is making sure the house is locked down tight.
Then I go do my self-care items such as makeup removal, skincare, and dental care.
The nighttime to-do list does not have to be long and should not be overly taxing.

Even with today’s current blue light filters on cell phones and smart tv’s we need to let our minds shut down.

Watching television is quite popular before bedtime.
Many people have televisions in their bedrooms.

Reserve bedtime television viewing for the weekends when you can sleep in a bit later.
Even with blue light filters, the mind cannot easily segway from full on to restful that quickly.
Plus, gaming, the Internet, and television can affect our dreams.

Turn the electronics off at least an hour before bedtime.

The mind-body connection is strong.
To relax the brain it is helpful to relax the body.
Taking a relaxing bath before bed sure can help.

For me, it keeps me from thinking about what I didn’t get done or what I need to do the next day.
It can also keep you from sounds outside, or within the home if others are still awake.
