ECHOGEAR TV Mount, I Mounted It Myself

Recently my young adult daughter moved back home after living on her own for almost two years.

Moving a full apartment back to a bedroom is mind-boggling, to say the least!

I had no idea she had accumulated so much stuff ( crap ).

Saving space in her bedroom here immediately came to mind.

One thing we could do in order to give her more floor space was to mount the TV on the wall.

ECHOGEAR Ease Of Installation:

I do want to note, I did 99.9% of the ECHOGEAR installation all on my own. Due to having a tear in my shoulder I did have to ask my husband to assist two times to hold the mount steady as I fastened it to the wall. Otherwise, all work was done on my own and was very easy to do.

With that said, and without taking away from the help my husband provided, my daughter could have as easily assisted but she wasn’t home at the time. Figures right?

Point is, easy TV wall mount installation!

How I Installed ECHOGEAR Full Motion Wall Mount:

The Tools:

EchoGear TV Mount Tools Used To Install

Level

Stud Finder ( we all need a good stud finder in our lives )

Pencil

Strange Pokey Tool I think Usually Used For Leather Work ( not required but helpful )

Drill Bit

Phillips Screw Driver

Ratchet Wrench

Drill

EchoGear TV Mount Kit:

ECHOGEAR KIT

Everything you need comes in the kit except for the few tools I mentioned above.

Don’t let all the pieces intimidate you!

Take one step at a time and it is super easy.

EchoGear Instructions

The instructions show everything in the box.

I suggest looking over this and becoming familiar with it before starting the installation.

You will not need to use all of the screws included.

It will depend on your television as well as what type of install you want to do.

For example, you can use spacers to allow extra room for cables or for mounting a curved TV, I did not need these.

These are the screws, spacers, washers, and items I had left over after the install was done.

EchoGear Extra Screws

The first thing you need to do to prepare for install is to find the studs!

You always want to check this twice and a good stud finder helps.

These can be tricky little things if you ask me!

I have discovered in my time that sometimes you are lied to and what appears to be a stud turns out to be a dud!

Always double check!

EchoGear Finding Studs

Mounting The ECHOGEAR Wall Plate:

Next, we mark where the studs are in the wall.

Using your level and pencil draw a straight line on the wall connecting where the studs are.

Put your wall plate against the wall and trace the oval cutouts of the wall plate on the spots where you marked the location of the studs.

This is exactly where the holes need to be drilled.

EchoGear Mark Where To Drill

This is where that strange tool thingy comes in….

EchoGear Strange Tool Thingy

I am sure someone out there will tell me exactly what this is.

Or that my husband will read this and “remind” me since he did tell me when I decided to use it.

I have seen him use this before which is why I did too.

This device helps to start your holes so that the drill does not kick back when beginning to drill.

After you use this, drill your holes.

EchoGear Mounting The Bracket

ECHOGEAR Knows We Can!

Now look ladies, I am not saying women, as a rule, are not as adept with tools as men.

These days we can do everything for ourselves.

I have seen some amazing women with highly followed DIY YouTube channels.

My husband even follows one.

Many women are not married, married to other women, or prefer to live a life solo.

More power to you whatever your situation is.

The fact is, a lot of the time I do not have my husband around to help me with projects.

Not all of us are Tool Time Tina ( totally made up name ).

Yet with ECHOGEAR, even if you are not a wizard in the tool shed, you can mount this thing!

I am going to admit, I was intimidated at the idea of doing this myself.

I do plenty of DIY projects and know my way around the garage but anytime it comes to something I have never done before, I cringe a little.

It only takes one time doing something successfully to feel empowered!

Before I even began to work with the wall plate I added the brackets to the back of the television.

Another super simple step that only took a hot minute to do.

Yes, there is a lot of screwing to be done but you can use your drill to make it faster if you prefer.

The final step is lifting the television up and placing it on the brackets then adding the bracket clips.

The bracket clips keep your television secure on the mount.

Then you are done!

Clearly, the guy on the TV is impressed with my work!

It truly was simple.

Once I got past the massive amount of screws provided and realized I would never have to use them all it was easy peasy!

A lot of the time DIY projects come down to the mental game.

If we can get out of our own heads we can do anything.

This goes for everything in life, not just installing a television wall mount.

You should be VERY VERY proud of yourself! I hired a handyman to install our TV because I put like 1300 holes in the wall and couldn’t figure it out. LOL So the back of our TV looks like swiss cheese. You did a great job!

LOL!! Sadie I have done that myself and even on this install did put an extra hole in the wall due to the stud finder not wanting to be exact! That is why I say always test twice lol. Thanks so much for checking out the post!

I would love to do this with the TV in my bedroom. It would definitely save space, and it would look really nice mounted on the wall. Plus I wouldn’t worry about the TV getting knocked over. I’ll have to check this out!

You go girl! I am wanting to mount my TV over my piano so bad… but I am kinda scared to get rid of my TV stand because of the storage. As soon as I can think of a viable solution, it’s happening. You have given me confidence to do it myself.

So glad you enjoyed the post and feel confident now to do this! You got this!

    • September 28, 2017 / 12:46 pm

Oh indeed you just can’t do it without the stud finder!! I only needed help with lifting and holding the mount steady as I drilled. This dang shoulder keeps me from doing a lot of things myself.

    • September 28, 2017 / 12:40 pm

I can understand that. I think it really depends on where your TV is mounted and where the cables need to go. My daughter is a little OCD about these things too. I have found there are creative ways to semi-hide cords if you are crafty enough. Mostly involves hiding them behind a plastic or some other type of mold that is painted the color of your wall. So yes there is still something there but it’s camouflaged.
