Wellness ® Complete Health™ Cat Food #HealthyMeetsHappy

My Lyla gets a lot of focus on the blog but it was time for my cats to receive some special attention. They also needed a cat food that was healthier than what I had been feeding them. Not that I would ever buy a bad food for them but I knew there had to be something better out there for them. Better nutrition was what I was after for them. A natural grain free cat food was my main requirement. This post is sponsored by Wellness® and the BlogPaws® Pet Influencer Network™. I am being compensated to help share the availability of Wellness Complete Health and NEW Complete Health Grain Free Cat Food available at PetSmart, but we only share…

National Pet Month

April is National Pet Month. Not only is it National Pet Month but it also is Heartworm Awareness Month and American Red Cross Pet 1st Aid Month. As much as I may know about pets I also know that things change. I need to keep up with the new information available out there. These yearly events are wonderful because they are a great reminder to touch on known techniques or to learn a few new ones. The American 1st Aid Month is in April because it is the beginning of hot weather. Pets are not much different from humans when it comes to needing clean cool water to drink. This is especially important for outside pets. Pets also suffer heat…

Why Routine Is Important To Your Pets

Having a routine is important to humans but having a routine is also important to pets.   Your pets need a routine to feel secure. Just like humans pets rely on daily routines to help them stay balanced in their energy. Routine is even more important to your pets because they learn through repetition. Animals learn what to expect and when to expect it through their human’s daily schedule. This means your pets depend on you for security. I get to see this first hand every day during the week. Lyla knows when her Grandpa Daddy is about to return home from work. She will move from her pillow to the door, sit and wait until he arrives.   Pets need a routine…

Happy Birthday to Lyla, My Sidekick and Blogging Buddy

Today is April 1st and it’s no joke, today is Lyla’s 8th birthday!   I did consider writing an article today announcing that I was quitting the blogging business but I just couldn’t. For one thing, I do not like sensationalism. Another reason is why would I want to overshadow my lovely Lyla’s special day with such silliness. Granted it is April 1st, a day known for silliness, but today is also a sad day for me.  April 1st is the day I lost my first child at 6 months of pregnancy. That was decades ago and I have healed but I just was never one for pulling April 1st pranks. I have attempted a few here and there, but I…

At the end of every month, I like to round up a few articles that may have flew under the radar. It happens sometimes because other things take center stage. Giveaways can make this happen. Other times it may be a holiday article, or something of a time sensitive nature that needs more promoting than other articles. Sometimes I just use the Round Up as a means to highlight one of my favorites. This month’s round-up articles include: My Orchard Mile Wishlist If you didn’t see this article before you will want to check it out! Orchard mile has a multitude of gorgeous designer fashion choices!   Pet Poison Prevention week is over but it is never too late to…

Wordless Wednesday Joy

Welcome to today’s Wordless Wednesday post. Rarely do we see true joy. Pure unfiltered joy. I think Lyla’s face captures the look and feel of joy perfectly. My daughter and her boyfriend were visiting this past weekend. Lyla was the recipient of extra special attention. Watching Lyla, and the kids, enjoying this precious moment was joyful for me. Happiness comes in such simple things. It is so pure and perfect. What brings you joy?

How To Be A Great Pet Parent

Disclosure: As part of the Chewy.com Blogger Program, and a Chewy Influencer, I received free product to facilitate this article. I am highly selective on products for my pets and I would only showcase items I trust, from brands I trust. I will admit, I was not always the best pet parent. I have always loved animals, and have always given every animal I had tons of love, but just as with children, love is not all that animals need. To be a great pet parent, one has to acknowledge that pets need things that love can not buy. Things that can sometimes add up to a lot of cash, especially if an emergency happens. Even when there are no…

My Experience Living Next To A Cat Hoarder Why You Should Spay …

In awareness of World Spay Day, which traditionally takes place on the last Tuesday of February every year,  I wanted to share with you a personal experience I had when I lived in my previous home. I lived right next door to a cat hoarder. The fact is the couple living next to us were hoarders in general but the cat hoarding affected the entire neighborhood. The cat population in their home had become so out of control that the couple had to move out of their home, into a small RV parked in their driveway. Please Pin Me!  My neighbors were not too secretive about how many cats they had, although I never knew an exact number, I remember…

I am being compensated to help share information about Oratene brushless pet oral care products for Pet Dental Health Month, but we only share information we feel is relevant to our readers. Oratene is not responsible for the content of this article.   February is Pet Dental Health Care month and there is no better time to talk about our pet’s oral health care. We have all heard, or used the term “doggie breath” and as a dog, and cat owner I can attest to the fact that cats can get bad breath too. It was not until I was introduced to Oratene® that I learned there are many…

January 2017 Round Up, Some Of My Favorite Articles

At the end of December 2016 I started a new monthly theme of writing about some of my favorite articles from the month. I called my first post in which I did this, My Favorite Articles of December 2016. My plan was to highlight one article from each category on the blog, however I have already decided to change that a little.  There are several reasons I am changing it up a little, such as not always having enough content in every category, to content still being too fresh, and already widely circulating. Instead I have decided to open this monthly article up to all posts here on Fashion Beyond Forty.  I still plan to include some recent articles that I…

Paw Tracks – A Not So Wordless Wednesday Pet Post

I have never participated in a Wordless Wednesday here on the blog because let’s face it, it’s difficult to shut me up! I tried to just let the photos do the talking but I had so many feelings, thoughts, and emotions run through me when I snapped these pictures that I just have to share what was on my mind.  Within the past year and a half we have lost a number of our fur family, four to be exact, two dogs, and two cats, despite them all having excellent veterinary care. When I snapped these pictures my heart was full because of the cute little tracks our Lyla had left behind. A reminder that we have life in our…

Busy Buddy Jack Dog Toy From Chewy.com Offers Your Pup A …

Disclosure: As part of the Chewy.com Blogger Program, and a Chewy.com Brand Ambassador, I received free product to facilitate this article. I am highly selective on products for my pets and I would only showcase items I trust, from brands I trust. Our Lyla has never been into toys. I have tried every pet toy from the most common, to the most popular, to the most obscure dog toys, and nothing has grabbed her interest.  Since Lyla is a treat hound, always begging for something more we have also tried pet toys that involve food.  When offered to try the Busy Buddy Jack Dog Toy from Chewy.com I figured why not, may as well give it another go. I really wanted to find a…

January Is National Walk Your Pet Month – Tips And Ideas For Better …

You may have noticed that the blog has a new look. It was time to take down the holiday header so in celebration of National Walk Your Pet Month I decided to adorn January’s header with a cute image of a pup being walked. You may have noticed it on the right side.  It is National Walk Your PET Month, not specific to dogs and while I am not sure about walking Iguanas, and I have not even attempted to put my cats on a leash I do know our Lyla loves it when she gets walks.  Even though she has a large fenced yard to frolic in, something about seeing that leash just gets her all excited! I believe…
