What I Am Wearing Today #27 Festival Wear Over 40

Summer is festival time! If you have teens, young adults, or maybe even tweens you know what festivals is. Maybe you are just a hip adult! I like to think that I am. I guess we would have to ask my kids. When you hit 40 it can be difficult to decide what to wear to events like a festival. We still want to look good.  Wearing really short shorts, crop tops, and some of the other current styles may not be us. If you look good in a crop top at any age, go for it! I do not believe in stigma or saying that someone is too old to wear this or that. Just keep it classy is all I say…

Mother’s Day Gift Hunting? We Have You Covered, Perfectly!

My Kindergarten teacher’s name was Miss Comfort. She was such a pretty lady with bright blue eyes and long brown hair. She had the brightest smile and was so sweet to all of the kids in my class. Although I was young obviously, I remember her well. She had such a maternal instinct about her. Maybe that is why when it comes to the word “comfort” I always associate that with motherhood. That is why when it comes to gift giving for Mother’s Day the first thing that comes to mind is a comfortable set of Pajamas. Save 20% on up to 2 items with my code FBF20 – that’s one PJ set for you, one for mom!    Disclosure: I…

Understanding Amazon Clothing Size Charts

When shopping for fashions on Amazon one could become confused, if not irritated. Size charts on Amazon are not always accurate. On the drop-down menu where you would select your size for an item, the choices are often confusing. Normally we would see a listing of XS to XL or XXS to XXL and so on. This is not always the case on Amazon. Some brands list size L as a USA 8 for example. We all know that a size 8 is not a Large in the USA. I wear medium to large in shirts, depending on the style, and I am at least a size 10 upward to a 14 for button up tops. If you see an…

Fashion Focus: Story Spark When Fashion and Tech Collide

My husband and I are a little bit Geek. We love games, computers, and all things tech. My husband dabbles a bit with graphic design, although he is still learning. I enjoy website design, although I have little time for it. Our biggest claim to our Geek nature would have to be that we met in a game, playing halfway across the country from one another. When I learned about Story Spark, I knew I had to work with them to show off their fun, stylish, tees. Disclosure: Thank you to Story Spark for sponsoring this article. I have received payment and/or product to facilitate this article.  I think Story Spark is cool because they believe in the balance between…

March Round-Up What You May Have Missed

At the end of every month, I like to round up a few articles that may have flew under the radar. It happens sometimes because other things take center stage. Giveaways can make this happen. Other times it may be a holiday article, or something of a time sensitive nature that needs more promoting than other articles. Sometimes I just use the Round Up as a means to highlight one of my favorites. This month’s round-up articles include: My Orchard Mile Wishlist If you didn’t see this article before you will want to check it out! Orchard mile has a multitude of gorgeous designer fashion choices!   Pet Poison Prevention week is over but it is never too late to…

What I Am Wearing Today #26 Discount Clothing

It seems like forever since I wrote a What I Am Wearing Today article. My last one was in February so I guess it was not that long ago. Today I decided it was a good time to write another. I wanted to feature this outfit because most everything I am wearing today was purchased on discount. I love fashion, I love great deals even more! So discount shopping is one of my favorite things to do. The only thing I am wearing that was not a “deal” or on discount is the top. This top was from a subscription box last year. It is by French Connection. I kept this article of clothing because of the gorgeous coral color.…

Ladies, I am like a kid in a candy shop right now! I was introduced to Orchard Mile and I can’t stop shopping! Check out my Spring / Summer wish list. These items are hot! Honestly, I do not know which item I would choose if I could only have one. It makes me feel like I entered a fashion fairy tale. 5 Movie Picks With Fashion Flair

If you love fashion and a great movie I have a few suggestions for you.   The Devil Wears Prada Anne Hathaway is stunning! As a new assistant to the powerhouse Meryl Streep, Andrea (Anne) matches sensitivities and wits with the forceful Miranda (Streep). A great storyline, excellent acting, laughs, and gorgeous fashion galore! Breakfast At Tiffany’s Audrey Hepburn plays Holly Golightly in this 1960’s film. This is one of my all time favorite movies and shows fashion at it’s best. This movie is heartwarming, fun, and sometimes silly. Audrey has some great lines that indirectly promote women’s rights. The handsome George Peppard is her co-star.   What’s Love Got To Do With It? Angela Basset stars in this touching film where…

What I Am Wearing Today #25 Fashion Fun Dressing For The Weather

Fashion can be tricky enough! It’s even trickier when the weather keeps fluctuating from day to day. Today it was cool again and felt like a Fall day. Luckily I have not put away my warmer clothing! You may recognize some of these pieces from other articles.  As a blogger, I do have a lot of clothing but I still gravitate toward favorites. I also know that not everyone has a huge selection of clothes to choose from. I did not always have the collection of fashions I do today. For that reason, I  like to show the same items frequently, just in different ways. I feel this is better for my readers so that you can get more ideas on…

Closet Clean Out – How To Do It Effectively!

If your closet is anything like mine was, it is overflowing and not necessarily with clothing that gets worn often. Every year or so I do a total closet clean out. No, not the seasonal rotation of the closet, but a deep, thorough clean out. These are 5 main justifications that often come up: 1. Emotional attachment. 2. I may wear it somewhere, someday. 3. It’s was so expensive! 4. Maybe I will fit into it again one day. 5. I don’t have anything else like it. Please Pin Me Let’s address each issue and discuss a method that works very well for most people in breaking down what to keep, what to donate, and what to sell, or trade.…

January 2017 Round Up, Some Of My Favorite Articles

At the end of December 2016 I started a new monthly theme of writing about some of my favorite articles from the month. I called my first post in which I did this, My Favorite Articles of December 2016. My plan was to highlight one article from each category on the blog, however I have already decided to change that a little.  There are several reasons I am changing it up a little, such as not always having enough content in every category, to content still being too fresh, and already widely circulating. Instead I have decided to open this monthly article up to all posts here on Fashion Beyond Forty.  I still plan to include some recent articles that I…

You can read more of my Covered Perfectly articles here.  Mixing prints is not always something I was comfortable with however I have learned to enjoy it. One key factor in mixing prints is to stick to one type of print. I mixed two different types of prints. Another thing that helps when mixing prints is to stick to a color theme. Mixing prints of black and white make it a lot easier, and is a good place to begin if you are just starting to play around with mixing prints. Below, I am wearing one of my favorites from…

What I Am Wearing Today #23 Fashionably Rustic In Jeans and Vegan Leather

Disclosure: Affiliate links are used in this article.  As much as I would love to be able to say I am a dress type of girl, I can’t. I have filled out style profiles for clothing subscriptions and ticked off the box for dresses numerous times but the fact of the matter is, I am a jeans type of person. I want to be a dress gal, but my lifestyle just does not provide me enough opportunity to wear them, even though I do love them.  My every day wear looks something like this …  Which brings to mind, I need to buy more jeans since I wear them almost daily! These are from Just Black. You can find them…

What I Am Wearing Today #22 Plaid Layers And Ripped Jeans

Disclosure: Affiliate links and referral links are used in this article.  Lately I have seen a lot of women complaining about ripped jeans. Love them or hate them, they are not a new thing, and it seems they are here to stay.  I am forty seven years old and I remember back in the early 1990’s all the teen girls, myself included, were fraying, and ripping their jeans intentionally, to our parents dismay I am sure. It was quite a talent if you were able to get the knack of fraying, and ripping jeans “just so” and many girls would have that one friend who knew exactly how to do it. Of course she was kept quite busy ripping, and…
