Top 20 Activities Not To Do On National Lazy Day

I heard that every year on August 10th we celebrate National Lazy Day.

I’m not sure on any true details on this because I am too lazy to research it.

I honestly have no idea if this is a real thing, nor do I care.

If there is a chance to take the day off, unwind, and let go, I’ll take it!

The truth is, being lazy now and then is great for our health.

Okay sure, we are supposed to exercise and all that but I’ve read of people dropping dead while jogging!

I think, at least for today, I will take the safer path and just be lazy!

National Lazy Day August 10th 2017

In honor of National Lazy Day, here are the Top 20 Activities Not to do on National Lazy Day.

Any Form Of Housework:

This includes interior and exterior work. Even if you find it enjoyable you should not do it. I love gardening but on this day, National Lazy day, I will refrain! You should too.

Banking and Financial:

Don’t even bother checking the bank account. Stay away from worries about money, bills, and finances. Today is not a day to stress out and worry about balancing the budget, nor financial planning for the future.

Driving – Anywhere:

It’s National Lazy Day! Why should you have to worry about driving yourself anywhere? Hire an Uber or take a taxi, bus, etc. Why worry about traffic, detours, or filling the tank. Recline and relax while someone else does the work.

Cooking:

If there were ever a day to get food delivery today is the day! No one should be in a hot kitchen slaving over the stove on National Lazy Day! Order that pizza, turn on NetFlix and chill!

Returning or Answering Phone Calls:

We all have appointments we need to make. Some days I get voice mails I know I need to return. Unless you get a 911 call from a child or family member just ignore your calls for one day. Let them wait!

Work:

There is no better day to take a day off from work than National Lazy Day. If you have vacation time that is. This is not a “holiday” worth losing your job over by any means. If you can swing it though, take the day off!

Moving from one room to the other for snacks and drinks:

It’s National Lazy Day!! Move that mini fridge right next to your recliner and stock it up! Make sure to have your favorite chips, pretzels, dips, and drinks right by your side. Okay we know it’s really a pie. The point is. BE LAZY! Have all your needs by your side all day long!

The To Do List:

Stash that To Do List! You do not need to get the car washed, pick up conditioner, nor do you need to wax the floor today! No one should even glance at their To Do list on this most cherished of National holidays! Shame!

Make excuses or apologies:

Got some issues to clear up with a loved one? Today is not the day for such things. Being that it is National Lazy Day and therefore you will obviously be inclined to take short cuts you are likely to screw it up. Stay away from serious conversations and confrontations.

Get Dressed:

Since we have established that you are not going to work, nor doing anything outside of the house without a driver getting dressed is pointless. Even if you did get an Uber to take you somewhere – you are probably feeling too lazy to do anything once you get there. Just stay in your pajamas!

National Lazy Day 2017 Top 20 Activities Not To Do

Showering or Bathing:

It just takes too much effort! When you consider all of the actions it takes to bathe or shower, you are doing everything wrong on this coveted National Lazy day if you do partake in cleansing yourself! It’s almost like the anti-lazy day activity! Don’t even think about it!

Shopping:

As much as I adore shopping let’s face it, it takes energy! Even the act of getting excited over a pair of shoes you see online uses up valuable energy that you simply will not have today. Remember the National Lazy Day Gods have stolen all of that from you!

Meddling in other’s issues:

If there is one thing that robs us of our time, of our energy more it is meddling! Yet so many people thrive on their drama and the drama of others. Do not stick your nose where it isn’t welcomed on this day. In fact, don’t stick it where it is welcomed! Just be lazy and focus only on yourself!

Thinking:

Using those brain cells is hard work! Worry, stress, plans, they are all just chipping away at our sanity! It is such an energy drain and waste of positive energy to over think things you probably will never get figured out anyway. This is not an activity for National Lazy Day at all.

Putting on makeup or doing your hair:

You do not need makeup today. Besides your skin needs a break from all that heavy stuff. If you think of how many actions and activities putting makeup on takes, you would be honoring National Lazy day by refraining from doing it! All that arm movement, the multiple strokes, exhausting to even think about it right!?

Going out to get the mail:

I think this one will be difficult for me. I love getting my mail. Who knows what goodies could lurk out there. Then again there are also those bills and junk mail. Actually, this should be an easy one for most people. No one needs to walk out in the hot sweltering sun to get that stuff! The sun is trying to kill us after all!

Checking out apps:

Yeah, I know. Most of you are thinking “but what else will I do while laying in my recliner eating my snacks?” Checking all those apps will only make you want to use your energy when you could be taking a nap! Your friend has snapped you and now you feel inclined to snap back! You have to push a button on the phone to get more troops deployed. Those Instagram comments won’t answer themselves! Wow, so much pressure for National Lazy day don’t you think?

Answering Questions:

Someone is always asking us something. Our spouse, boss (although you should not be at work) friends. Just ignore them. Or alternatively, you can affirm “I am officially not responding to any questions in honor of National Lazy Day. Please ask again tomorrow”.

No Email or Computers:

Checking email is a tedious task that can take forever if you get a bunch of junk email like me. Being on your computer could involve work which is a no no. It could also mean you get caught up in drama, or energy zapped with bad news on the web. You have been warned that this is not an appropriate activity for this special day. The fact that it involves activity at all is an obvious reason not to do it.

DO NOT WATCH THIS FILM:

Lazy Days is a film from 1929. Yes, an old time black and white film. I am not saying you can’t watch it. It’s just that you can’t watch it on August 1oth, unless you wait until after midnight. Which of course then the 10th would be over. Or go ahead and watch it, as long as you can get someone to key it up for you since you should also not be handling the remote yourself. You are just too lazy!

LOL I can’t wait to do nothing! The kids have had me running nonstop all summer long so a day of nothing sounds perfect. Wonder if I can get a written note to excuse me from our exercise group though.
