If there is one main reason I love winter, which I really do not, I am not a cold weather type of person, but the one redeeming value in winter for me is COATS!
I love the various style aspects a cute coat can bring to my wardrobe.
Boots are clearly another redeeming value, but we can wear them all year long, even if we only pull them out of our closets in the Fall.
To be honest, this coat almost went into the donations pile last year. We do donate coats regularly for those in need, but something told me to hold on to this one. The reason it was nearly donated was because last winter, it was too small!
I got this coat from Modcloth, in a Stylish Surprise package. Stylish Surprises only come out once in a while, and you have to grab them before they are gone. Basically it’s a grab bag type of item, in your size. You have no idea what you will get but I have got some amazing goodies from my Stylish Surprises, like this coat, for only $10.00 although the price may have gone up since the last time I got my hands on one.
I love how the styling of this coat helps define my waist, something I really do not have much of is a waistline.
While the peplum style bottom of the coat may make my hips look larger, I am not concerned as this is an area of my body that has narrowed over the last few years.
What was once too small is now actually slimming on me. Can’t beat that! It is still a little tight in the chest area, but I made it work with the right bra.
I have no idea where I picked up this pretty scarf from. I am really starting to build up my scarf collection and this is one of my favorites.
I just love all the colors in it which helps it match a lot of of outfits. One thing I have been doing lately is leaving specific scarves with the coats they go best with. That way when I grab a specific coat the scarf is already there.
Since I tend to gravitate toward specific coats depending on other things I am wearing that day, I usually come out with a cohesive look, at least where colors are concerned.
These booths though … love them! While I rarely wear boots with any type of heel on them, I do love having one or two pair that have a low heel. These came from PinkBlush last season. Be sure to check their clearance section. They have some seriously great discounts in there. That is the section I grabbed these boots from for under $20 USD!
Yup even during my photo shoot I could not stop looking down at them! LOVE!
Speaking of PinkBlush, my jeans came from there as well. You can read more about PinkBlush fashions in this article from last Spring.
My Maroon cami is from WetSeal. I love that shop for great discounted styles. Their cami tops run only $5 each and you can always find great deals on their clearance racks.
My navy top is from Chicwe, and has become one of my “go to” tops. Sadly it is not currently available but check out their Amazon shop for other great styles.
The lesson I have learned is if I really truly do love something to hold onto it if it is just slightly too large or too small. Our bodies change, our weight fluctuates, what does not fit you today may fit you next month. Sometimes next week!
While I am a huge advocate of donating unused items, sometimes it is good to hold onto something you will use, if only you lost, or gained a few pounds.
I am really happy that this cute Modcloth coat fits me now, plus it gives me the encouragement I need to keep my current weight, which I am quite comfortable with.
