While I do adore cooking, I also love recipes that are easy to make, recipes the entire family will enjoy, recipes that use few ingredients, and recipes that are still healthy. I also love salads of all kinds, especially pasta salads. In our family one of the favorites since my kids were little has been Suddenly Salad by Betty Crocker. I have discovered a way to make my own homemade version of Suddenly Salad using the Bow Tie Pasta Blend from Schwan’s that is healthier, less expensive, and tastes a lot better in my opinion. My family thinks so as well!
If you read my article with the recipe for 5 Ingredient Easy Peasy Salad you already know I am not much for measuring ingredients because everything in my book is “to taste”. However, I will give you an idea of how much I used of each item in the following Mock Suddenly Salad recipe.
What You Need:
1 2lb Bag Bow Tie Pasta Mix from Schwan’s (serves 8)
1 Cup Shredded Cheese
2 Cups Croutons (crushed)
1/2 Cup Mayo
1/2 Cup Caesar or Creamy Italian Dressing
3 Teaspoons of Mixed Garden Herbs
1 Tablespoon Sugar (optional)
Salt and Pepper (optional)
Boil Pasta as directed on bag.
While pasta boils prepare other ingredients
Crush Croutons and add shredded cheese.
Mix the salad dressing and mayo with herbs, and sugar.
Drain and cool pasta, then mix in the dressing blend.
Follow with mixing in the croutons and cheese blend.
You are done! Add salt and pepper to taste.
Other items you can add are:
Bacon or Veggie Bacon Bits
Whatever your heart desires!
