Native Spring Drink / Mint Muddler for Mojitos and My Mojito Recipe

Disclosure: I received a product to facilitate this review. Amazon affiliate links are used in this post.

I love Mojitos. I mean I really really love them. They are my all time favorite drink, in the world. I am lucky that they are also my husband's favorite drink as well. We love Mojitos so much we grow our own mint for them. Now if only we could grow a lime tree! Wait, no a rum tree! Yes that is more like it. Anyway, sorry I get side tracked sometimes... I want to tell you about the Native Spring Muddler

Isn't it Pretty!

What a Muddler does:

It gently and properly muddles you mint leaves to extract the essential oils from your mint to flavor your drink.

Why is a Muddler so important?:

If you just go in smashing your leaves you will bruise them, and well, smash them, and the oils can't come out in their full glory, thus your Mojito will not taste as good.

How is the Native Spring Muddler So Good?:

It has a scored bottom that allows the right pressure, and coverage to the mint leaves, allowing for maximum amount of oils to come out of the leaves and flavor your drink properly.

What else is cool about the Native Spring muddler?:

It looks fantastic with its sleek stainless steel design and will get conversation flowing by your bar set up.

Interesting Subject of Convo On Your Bar Shelves!

Let's hear more from Native Spring themselves:

Doesn't Transfer Flavors and Odors. Food Safe and Sanitary - premium stainless steel muddler doesn't absorb liquids, flavors or odors so it won't transfer extra, unwanted flavors and colors to your next drink. There is no contamination of your drinks from coatings and finishing materials common to wooden muddlers, and also no chance of cracking or absorption that creates a haven for grit and germs (common to wooden muddlers). BPA free, food-grade 18/8 stainless steel and toxin-free nylon tip.

Versatile - Goes Beyond the Cocktail - easily muddles anything including mint, cucumbers, strawberries, herbs and spices so you can create much yummier flavor-bursting cocktails. And you won't stop with cocktails. Use your muddler to make so much more, including: BBQ rubs and sauces; guacamole; muddled fruit, veggies and herbs to infuse flavor into water, lemonade and tea; infused olive oil; jalapeno dip; garlic butter for scrumptious garlic bread.
Beautiful, Fun and Easy to Use - Solid (doesn't feel hollow) with a sleek contemporary design that looks beautiful on your kitchen counter. Feels like you have complete control when using it (because you do!). Durable, easy to clean. Dress up your muddler handle with the three removable optional decorative rubber rings. Dishwasher safe but handwashing is recommended.
100% No-Hassle Lifetime Guarantee - Order now with peace of mind with our 100% No-Hassle Lifetime Guarantee. And when you do, consider getting several, one for you and a couple extra for your very best friends. Makes a great gift - it sure beats the heck out of a tie or a scarf! You'll love the recipes and pro muddling tips included in the free downloadable 'Muddle Flavor-Bursting Cocktails With Ease' pdf ebook. Take your muddling beyond the cocktail!
Muddle, Crush and Pulverize Like A Pro - the grooved nylon tip grips your fruit, herbs and spices so they don't fly or squirt away. The tip is gentle on mint and herbs so they don't become completely pulverized and bitter, or you can use the rounded stainless steel end and a cutting board to gently muddle fragile herbs. Crushes citrus with authority to extract the aromatic oils from their zests. Long enough to reach to the bottom of your taller cocktail glasses. The nylon tip prevents your glass from being damaged.
So as you can see, if you read all of that, you can muddle other things than just Mojitos, but why bother? Just keep making Mojitos!

Here is how to make a GOOD Mojito:

First, don't listen to those people who tell you to use straight sugar, or sugar mixed with water. You want Simple Syrup! Simple Syrup is so easy to make. All it is - is equal parts sugar and water, brought to a simmer, and cooked down for about 5 to 10 minutes. Then let it sit, or chill in the fridge so it thickens. It makes your mojito taste so much better!

10 or more mint leaves, to me the more the better.

1 to 2 ounce of light rum (to taste, did I say the more the better?)
4 Tablespoons Simple Syrup
1 Cup Sparking Water, such as Perrier Water or Pellegrino
1 Whole lime cut into four wedges
Ice

Clean and put your mint leaves into your tall glass. Muddle with the Native Spring Muddler.

Squeeze 3 of your four lime wedges into the glass, put squeezed wedges into glass.
Add 4 Tablespoons Simple Syrup
Add Light Rum
Add Sparkling Water
Stir
Add Ice
Garnish with last lime wedge.
You can also add other fruit if you wish such as blueberries, strawberries, etc.

Drink and enjoy!
