Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes Review

Disclosure: I received product to facilitate this review.

I feel so lucky to have been asked by Lisa Homan to test and review Younique 3D Fiber Lashes, as well as some of the Younique Blushers and Eye Pigments. Just look at how beautifully packaged this is! Getting this or having this on your makeup table sure makes you feel luxe! Wait until you see how it looks though! I love the case!

I have to admit, I was a little intimidated at first and I will tell you there is a slight learning curve to using the 3D Lashes but I feel if I can do it, anyone can because I admit, I am not a patient person!
One thing I do want you all to know is that 3D Fiber Lashes are not fake lashes! There is no gluing of parts or pieces to one’s eyelid involved! This product comes in tubes, just like mascara, and is applied similar to mascara, but one needs just a tad more patience to get it to look perfect.
I also want to admit, before I post photos, that I am still working on that perfect application. I have shaky hands, and terrible eyesight without my glasses, and fact is, one can not apply eye make up with glasses on! I really need to get myself a magnifying mirror!
With all of that said let’s talk a little more about what 3D fiber lashes are.

Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes

Our best selling product, 3D Fiber Lashes dramatically enhances and magnifies the appearance of your own lashes.

Our simple three-step process combines Transplanting Gel and Natural Fibers to help create the appearance of incredible thickness and volume to your existing lashes. Watch as your lashes transform into something you have only dreamed of!

The 3D Fiber Lashes are water resistant but easily wash off with warm water and facial cleanser at the end of the day. Try it! It will quickly become your favorite makeup must-have!

To prepare your eyelashes for optimal results, first apply one thin coat of your own regular favorite mascara and let it dry. Then, apply Moodstruck Transplanting Gel to your lashes. Note: Lisa however told me that she skips the step of putting your own mascara on first, as she feels, as do I, that it defeats the purpose of using this product in place of your own mascara, and to be honest, after trying it without using my own mascara, this step is not even necessary! So basically we just begin the whole process with using the Gel first then immediately following, and while the gel is still wet, apply the Moodstruck Natural Fibers, Then reapply the Transplanting Gel a second time to secure the natural fibers onto your lashes.

More Tips from Lisa:

Couple of pointers: On the transplanting gel:  Go slow and move your wand back & forth coating each lash.

Do not apply heavily.

On the fibers:  When you open the tube, swirl around the tip in the tube to “flatten” the fibers.  They are still there, they just aren’t fuzzy.

Also apply the fibers just to the tips of your lashes.  Immediately go back with your transplating gel going slowing and moving back & forth again, not applying heavily.

If your results aren’t as long and full as you would like, repeat the process until you get the look you are wanting.

This is what I do.  Hope that helps!!!

Lisa’s tips helped me a lot!

(Edited on 10/26/2014) Thanks to Shelley Z. who commented saying she wished I done a before photo of my lashes I am adding some in. Thank you Shelley I have no idea why I did not do this as I do it for other types of posts. I truly appreciate the suggestion! Now, while this photo was not taken on the same day as I tried the lashes and took photos for this post, this is me, without any makeup.

So let’s look at some photos of my first application of Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes…

First try with 3D Fiber Lashes – Not Bad!

I thought my first try was pretty darn good! I mean it was not that hard to apply at all and wow did my eyes pop but of course there is room for perfecting the process for sure! I may be a beauty blogger but that does not make me any more talented at applying make up and I do have to make effort to get good at a new technique, let alone perfect it! I did not try the pigments at this time as I wanted to only focus on the lashes.

So let’s look at my second time trying 3D Fiber Lashes with Eye Pigments. I used pigments Feisty and Daring because they sounded fun!

Oh and before I show the photos here is some info on the eye pigments:

Moodstruck Minerals Pigment Powder

100% natural, chemical-free, mineral-based pigment powders, free of talc, oils, preservatives, perfumes, synthetic dyes, and parabens.
100% natural, mineral-based pigment powders consisting of finely crushed minerals that bond to the skin offering long-lasting, sweat-proof coverage. High-quality pigments that do not contain talc or other unnecessary filler ingredients. Apply wet for a more dramatic impact of color, or apply dry for a blending of colors or for a softer look. The possibilities are endless as you tap into your “inner mood” for the day. To experience optimal results first apply Younique’s Glorious Face & Eye Primer all over your face and eyelids prior to using mineral pigment eyeshadows.
Mine came as sample packets so I do not have personal photos of the containers but here is a photo from Lisa’s website – I think they are so pretty!

Okay so here are my photos of my second application and pigments:

I have a bit of a confession, I think I like my first go around better, but I have to let you know, the first time, I was honestly more patient than the second time. Most of you have families that keep you on your toes, and I thought when I was applying the lashes that I would have more time to focus on getting a perfect result but as it turns out, I was needed by a family member and had to rush the application. Plus, I have already told you I am not a patient person. The issue with lack of patience when applying the lashes is that you have to really let the fibers dry before applying a second round, something which I did not do the first time I tried them. The problem when you do not do this is that some of the fibers will in fact flake off and end up on your face somewhere lol which is sort of funny, unless you are out and about! Either way as long as you are patient this will not happen.
Now as for the pigments, I love them! They blend so wonderfully! Feisty is a light color and daring is a dark color but as I blended them and I did literally blend some of the two pigments together, I got a perfect look! I was not even intending for anything close to a smoky eye but that is pretty much how it turned out! I can not wait to play with these pigments more! I seriously may have a makeup day where I put on pigments, then take them off just to see how many cool combinations I can get! Truly limitless I am sure!
Another confession, I am not a huge fan of pigments. I have a lot of them too. I just find them a hassle, but these were a delight to work with!
I am going to be writing some follow up posts on future application of my Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes as well as more experiments with my pigments. I also have some of the cheek pigments or blushers as they are called, to show you as well!
Next post I hope to show you a total look using all of the Younique products I have to sample.
